Canvas is made of 100% certified organic cotton, without the addition of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. From 2004 to 2020, VEJA purchased approximately 642 tons of organic cotton. Cotton is grown in Brazil and Peru by associations that respect people and the environment, in line with the principles of fair trade.
In Brazil, cotton is organic and agroecological. It is an agricultural context that enriches the soil after cultivation, improving the biodiversity of the flora and retaining water in the soil. In Peru, organic cotton farmers are supported in the certification process and enjoy funding and support in terms of know-how and technology to improve production.
